Our Approach to Adolescent Mental Health

Adolescence is a time of emotional, physical, and cognitive change, making our kids particularly vulnerable to mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, and self-esteem issues. At Pure Potential we work with kids ages 15 and older, using an integrative psychiatry approach. Our care  considers your whole child, providing comprehensive and empowering mental healthcare.

 Serious Look

 Addressing Hormonal and Neurochemical Changes

An integrative psychiatry approach takes into account how the influx of hormonal changes influence brain chemistry, offering psychiatric medications (when necessary) that are tailored to the unique needs of adolescents. Additionally, integrative psychiatry supports overall wellness through healthy lifestyle discourses, nutritional deficiency testing, and nutraceutical or supplement options for optimal brain functioning and emotional regulation.

Empowerment through Whole Person Care

Puberty often brings a heightened sensitivity to social pressures, body image concerns, and emerging sexual identities.

An integrative psychiatry approach empowers adolescents by giving them tools and strategies to manage their mental health in a balanced, informed way. Through education, mind-body practices, and a focus on emotional well-being, adolescents develop a sense of ownership over their mental health, building confidence and self-awareness.

Building Resilience

An integrative approach considers the external pressures of school, social media, peer relationships, family dynamics and social support networks, and includes them as essential parts of the wellness process. Therapy or counseling may  helps reduce the impact of negative stressors in any of these domains, and support groups tailored to your teen's diagnosis or concerns, have the potential to enhance emotional regulation, expression, and trauma processing. We consider therapy essential for adolescent mental health and wellness. At Pure Potential, we offer group education, and we can help you navigate finding a therapist for your child outside of our practice.

Focusing on Long-Term Well Being

Integrative psychiatry focuses on early intervention, helping identify mental health disorders before they escalate into more chronic issues. At Pure Potential, a tailored plan is developed for your child that may include lifestyle interventions such as diet, exercise, sleep hygiene, and mindfulness practices, helping to promote long-term mental well-being. We offer wellness educational discourses tailored to your child's needs, and education can happen in group format or one-on-one with a provider, whichever you and your child prefer.
